In the 1880s he finally stumbled upon a unique formula he thought could truly rock the taffy world, so he moved his family to Atlantic City — home of salt water taffy — eager to sell his new signature confection.
Different than most taffies, Jamess was designed with a softer chew. It was smooth, creamy, and wholesome, with a new “cuttofitthemouth” shape. By 1907, James and his family had created new machines specifically designed to create his signature candy, many of which are actually still in use!
