While hops are best known for making beer, they also make an excellent and helpful tea. Like beer, the flavor is somewhat bitter, and can have a hint of earthy or herbal flavors. The mouthfeel is more astringent than most other herbal teas, more like green tea, than, say, Chamomile. Enjoy your hops tea by pouring a cup or so of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of hops flowers or one tea bag. Let sit for about 10-15 minutes then enjoy. A bit too bitter for your taste? Try adding sweeteners such as amber beet sugar, also used in beer production but rich and sweet, or other teas. Brew extra – you can refrigerate the tea for up to two days.
